your Suffolk Together District Councillor for Somersham, Barking, Offton, Willisham, Baylham and Nettlestead
I’m Steve Wright, your new Suffolk Together District Councillor
I have lived in Suffolk all my life, brought up at Monewden and moved to Little Blakenham in 1980 with my wife, Lorraine. I have four children, James 24, Nicola 22, Lindsey 17 and Kathryn 16 and therefore know some of the needs of teenage/twenty year old people. I have been involved in running a small family farm for most of my working life. I have commercial glasshouses at Little Blakenham and also run a small garden nursery with Lorraine on the B1113 at Bramford.
Since the mid 80’s I have been on the Little Blakenham Parish Council and have become severely disillusioned with being ignored by MSDC. Many times I have thought we as parish councillors were wasting our time. I therefore decided to stand for district councillor and try to “Make a change”.
I firmly believe that the district council should be non political, run by local people for local people, not by central government.
My aim is to attend as many parish council meetings in my area as possible and relay the views of local people to Mid Suffolk District Council. you can always contact me on steve@suffolktogether.org or 07850 882 791
I will campaign for issues on your behalf that I believe are of benefit to the local community.
The issues that I am sure affect you as much as me are:-
- Low cost housing for the youngsters, making sure that the right type of houses are within new developments.
- Ensure industrial development is compatible with the site it is proposed for, and does not cause a blot on the landscape or traffic problems in the villages
- Encourage high tech businesses to the area; bring better paid jobs and employment for the next generation.
- Encourage tourism that enhances the beautiful countryside we live in.
- Ensure local Schools, Post Offices and local facilities are maintained or improved.
- Protect and improve playgrounds, football pitches, village greens and other sports and social facilities.
- Help to make it possible for elderly people to continue to live in or near the community within which they feel at home.
Thankyou for voting for for Stephen Wright
